We Are Honored to Serve You.
At Hospice of the Golden Isles, it’s a priority to provide veterans with customized care and recognition that honors their service to our nation. We are privileged to care for a large number of these national heroes in the communities we serve with specialized care and support.
We are proud to be a partner with We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This is a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. By recognizing the unique needs of America’s Veterans and their families, community providers like Hospice of the Golden Isles, in partnership with VA staff, learn how to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful transition. Additionally, we attempt to honor their legacies in our community by sponsoring special events, including an appreciation lunch on Veterans Day, throughout the year.
Special Care for Special Heroes
Military veterans, especially those who faced combat, and often experience a serious illness differently than those who never served. Our care team is trained to recognize and address the unique physical and emotional challenges these heroes may face.
Every veteran at our Hospice House receives a special recognition on the door to their room indicating their branch of service. There is also a special place of honor to remember our veterans in our Memory Brick Walk.
In accordance with our mission as the area’s only non-profit hospice, we accept all veterans, regardless of their ability to pay.
